SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Although YouTube TV is not yet available in Canada, many of our readers will be interested to hear the streaming service announced this week it is introducing 4K Plus as an add-on package for $20 per month.
First previewed earlier this year, 4K Plus not only allows YouTube TV subscribers to watch 4K content on the service for the first time, but they can also download shows to their phone or tablet to watch offline, as well as enjoy unlimited streams on their home Wi-Fi.
YouTube TV’s base membership plan (which includes 85+ channels) costs US$64.99 per month, and with the 4K Plus add-on cost of US$19.99 per month, that’s a pretty pricey streaming service. (Currently, eligible YouTube TV Family Managers can get a one-month free trial of 4K Plus and then pay US$9.99 per month for 12 months for the add-on package. After 12 months, the 4K Plus add-on cost will increase to US$19.99 per month.)
