TORONTO – Chris Robbins, the chief customer officer at Wind Mobile Canada, is out.

A memo to Wind employees yesterday outlined the changes in the executive ranks, just about three months since launch.

“As we move from launch to operational mode we are faced with a different set of challenges. The operations need to be stabilized, subscribers need to be acquired and revenues need to accelerate,” said a memo sent to employees by president Ken Campbell.

“Over the course of the last two weeks I have had extensive discussions with shareholders and the Board. As a result of these discussions I have agreed with them that changes are needed in order to take the business forward and achieve the ambitious targets that have been set.

So, Robbins CCO role is eliminated and there will now be two groups in charge: sales and marketing/brand & experience. Melissa Clark, vice-president, sales will become a member of the executive committee.

The company has also begun a search for a Chief Marketing Officer.

“Chris has been an integral member of the team and has played the lead role in establishing and building our brand, developing our propositions and creating our market approach,” wrote Campbell.

Wind is also going to look for a Chief Information Officer since Scott Waller, who has been the acting CIO, will be leaving at the end of his contract.

(Ed. note: Such moves are nothing new for young start-ups, as new skills are often required during the transition from launch to retention and customer build.)

In a goodbye blog post, Robbins, pictured, (who’s been there longer than three months, of course) said: “Over the last 18 months the WIND team has accomplished the unbelievable by building a new national wireless company from the ground up…

“So, what’s next? We’re continuing to learn, grow and expand our coverage and services. All good. And as we move into a very ambitious growth mode, we’re making some other shifts internally. Those shifts, combined with my desire to develop wireless & technology opportunities globally, mean that I’m leaving WIND.
