VANCOUVER – Contest winner and UBC film student Ian Holliday had the chat of a lifetime when his idol, director Christopher Nolan called him Tuesday to offer some career advice.

Holliday was one of more than 10,000 people to register for Wind Mobile’s competition Best Conversation Ever which offered Canadians the chance to speak to anyone in the world. Out of the thousands of entries received from hopeful Canadians vying to win this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Holliday set himself apart with a creative video submission made with the help of his colleagues Yuri Cabrera and David Bolen, which was inspired by Nolan’s work. Holliday is the third of five Canadians to win their ‘best conversation ever’ through the WIND Mobile competition. You can view Holliday’s entry here.

To make these conversations possible, WIND Mobile will donate over a half a million dollars to Canadian charities. Each of the five personalities who participate is asked to choose one Canadian charity to receive $100,000 for a total of $500,000 in donations. Nolan selected the Canadian Film Centre as the recipient for his donation. In addition to the $500,000, another $100,000 has already been donated to six Canadian charities in the Best Conversation Ever Charity Challenge.

Says Wind, the ultimate goal of the competition is to help five lucky Canadians have the conversations they never dreamed possible. The competition ran from January 24, 2011 to March 7, 2011 and had more than 2,500 entries. The winners were selected by a panel of Wind judges and industry leading bloggers and will all be announced by August 31 at www.bestconversationever.ca.
