TORONTO — Telus today launched Stream+, which it calls “the first and only premium streaming bundle in Canada”.

Available to new and existing Telus Mobility customers, Stream+ bundles Netflix Premium plan, Apple TV+ and discovery+ on a single bill for $25 per month. This represents about $7 in savings per month, as the total price for these three services without a bundle would be approximately $32 per month, according to information on Telus’ website here.

“Over the last two years, Canadians coast-to-coast have been streaming more than ever and are increasingly looking to simplify their streaming subscriptions while enjoying premium entertainment for less,” Jim Senko, president of Telus Mobility Solutions, said in a press release.

“We’ve been listening to our customers and we’ve heard that they’re looking for convenience, cost savings and simplicity. That’s why we’re excited to deliver Stream+, a seamless entertainment experience, backed by our globally leading wireless networks. Telus Mobility customers across the country now have access to a wide variety of their favourite content that they can enjoy whenever they want, wherever they are,” Senko said.

Telus recently commissioned a survey by Angus Reid, which found “close to half of Canadians use three or more streaming platforms and that 90 per cent of Canadians would bundle streaming services together to save money if they could,” according to the press release.

Some of the movies and TV shows now available to Stream+ customers include Netflix’s Emmy-winning Ozark and Stranger Things, Apple TV+’s Academy Award-winning best picture CODA and Emmy-winning comedy series Ted Lasso, and discovery+’s critically acclaimed documentary Introducing, Selma Blair. discovery+ also includes popular series from HGTV, Food Network and TLC.

In addition to watching Stream+ on their mobile phone, subscribers can watch content on their tablet, laptop and TV, the release says.

“Telus has made it easy for customers who already have a subscription to one or more of these streaming services to link their billing — with no change to their preferences, viewing history or profiles — to the Stream+ subscription through their Telus Mobility bill,” the press release reads.

Customers who have access to Netflix on Optik should choose another premium option as part of their Optik TV package to avoid being double billed for the service, Telus’ website says. Currently, Netflix is the only one of the three bundled streamers to be available on Optik TV.

The deal is for Telus Mobility customers only because the company “wanted to bring Stream+ to the most Canadians as possible at launch and as our mobility service is national, no matter where you live you can access this first in Canada streaming bundle,” a Telus spokesperson told Cartt.ca via email.

The spokesperson did not say whether Telus has plans to offer Stream+ to non-mobility Telus customers down the road when asked by Cartt.ca.
