Jorge Fernandes joining the company next week
TORONTO – Rogers Communications has named now former Vodafone UK CTO as its new chief technology officer.
RCI CEO Joe Natale made the announcement Thursday morning during the company’s conference call with financial analysts discussing its Q4 and full year 2017 results.
Fernandes “brings a great depth and breadth of global experience across wireless, cable and telecom,” said Natale. Fernandes replaces Bob Berner, who retired at the end of 2017 after 30 years with the company.
Fernandes has been with Vodafone since 2002 in various technical roles, beginning in his home nation of Portugal, rising to CTO of Vodafone Portugal and then to the same position with Vodaphone Turkey. Vodafone UK has approximately 17 million subscribers.
