TORONTO — The all-new Punky Brewster series, a reboot of the ’80s sitcom about a young girl raised by a foster dad, will premiere on W Network with back-to-back episodes on Thursday, March 4 starting at 8 p.m., Corus Entertainment announced today.
An encore presentation will air on YTV on Friday, March 5 beginning at 8 p.m., and the full season will be available to stream exclusively on StackTV on March 4, starting at 8 p.m., the same time as the first episode’s premiere on W Network.
The new series (10 episodes x 30 minutes) is a continuation of the original show, with actress Soleil Moon Frye (pictured) reprising her role as Punky, who is now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track when she meets Izzy (played by Quinn Copeland), a young girl in the foster system who reminds Punky a lot of her younger self.
The reboot also sees Cherie Johnson reprising her original role as Cherie, with new cast members including Freddie Prinze Jr. (playing Travis, Punky’s ex-husband), Noah Cottrell (as Diego), Oliver De Los Santos (as Daniel) and Lauren Lindsey Donzis (as Hannah).
In addition to streaming via StackTV, W Network can be streamed on the new Global TV app.
