TORONTO — Primus Telecommunications, recently acquired by independent telecom provider Distributel Communications, announced Tuesday it is permanently removing data overage charges on all of its capped Internet plans.
In March 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, Primus temporarily removed data overage charges, but is now making the decision permanent by eliminating all Internet overage fees, says the company’s press release. Distributel, now Primus’ parent company, had already removed Internet overage charges permanently on its broadband plans last May.
“We are so proud to be able to do this for our customers,” said Distributel CEO Matt Stein, in the press release. “Our customers’ satisfaction is a top priority for us. As Canadians continue to live through the Covid-19 pandemic, more than ever before, the importance of having affordable access to unlimited Internet is a necessity, and we’ll be here to support their changing needs.”
The change announced today is effective immediately across all of Primus’ capped Internet plans, and no customer action is required, says the release.
