VANCOUVER – Telus announced Wednesday a new, enhanced app for Optik TV which will allow customers to watch their favourite shows at any time, on any device.
Besides watching live TV on the go, app users can now access thousands of on demand titles as well as set and manage recordings from their smartphone, tablet, or computer. The revamped app also features improved accessibility features including closed captioning and described video pass-through.
Users can access up to 185 channels in home and 155 on-the-go, which is the most live TV channels available on mobile devices in Western Canada, says the company. The app will also allow users to order a movie on their TV and pick up where they left off on their mobile device, if they have to take their entertainment to go.
"We're constantly evolving Optik TV to provide our customers with enhanced viewing options that suit their lifestyle and put them in control of when, where and how they want to enjoy their favourite content," said Blair Miller, vice-president, products and content at Telus.
The Optik TV app is currently available in B.C., Alberta and Quebec in English and French for Apple (iOS 10.0 and later) and Android (5.0 and later) smartphones and tablets, or within a web browser (Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, and Safari).
