MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — The Ontario Association of Broadcasters (OAB) today announced details of two sessions taking place during its Connection 2022 conference, being held Oct. 18-19 at the Hyatt Luxe Convention Centre in Mississauga, Ont.
“Creating Winning Radio Culture” will be moderated by Amanda Cupido, director of talk and talent at Corus Entertainment’s 640 Toronto. Joining her for the panel discussion will be the morning show teams from Corus’ FM96 London and Rogers Sports and Media’s 98.1 CHFI Toronto. (Please see the panelists’ photos and titles above.)
“Attracting and retaining top talent has never been harder in today’s competitive landscape. Creating a culture that engages audiences begins with amazing team chemistry, in front of the microphone and behind it,” reads an OAB email announcing the panel session.
“Listeners hear it, employees demand it. Building a spirit of transparency, trust and honesty is critical to engage with audiences and grow your business. We have all seen how a toxic work environment can sputter and fail. This panel will discuss how strong leadership and great talent can work to identify goals, work through challenges and celebrate successes together.
“How do you build a supportive working environment to foster the trusting relationships required to crush mandates, making a good show GREAT?”
The panelists will discuss how they were able to do this, the email says.
The second session announced today, “Building a Cohesive Team”, is about “the power and importance of connecting,” OAB’s email says.
“Our modern workplace is in constant flux. From hybrid environments to working at home to back to the office — it can feel downright impossible to develop a truly cohesive team and effectively connecting with colleagues,” the email says.
“Presented through the lens of the Five Behaviours of a Cohesive Team, accredited presenter Madelyn Hamilton (right) shares this proven framework to deepen ‘connection.’ The basic message is simple — to be as effective as possible, teams need to dedicate time and effort to Building Trust; Engaging in Healthy Conflict; Committing to Decisions; Holding Each Other Accountable; and Focusing on Shared Results.
“Bringing together personalities and preferences to form a cohesive, productive, team takes work, but the payoff can be huge. It is about deepening the connection.”
