YELLOWKNIFE and WHITEHORSE — Northwestel announced today it will kick off its annual holiday toy drive tomorrow in Yellowknife, NT, and Whitehorse, YT.
Between Nov. 15 and Dec. 12, Northwestel will collect toys at its retail locations in Yellowknife and Whitehorse to support local charitable organizations, a media advisory explains.
Tomorrow’s toy drive launch in Yellowknife will take place at 10 a.m. at the Northwestel Retail Centre at 5201-50th Avenue. City of Yellowknife councillor Garett Cochrane will participate along with representatives from the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce, the Salvation Army and Northwestel.
“All toys donated in our Yellowknife Retail Centre will be collected by the local Salvation Army — benefitting hundreds of local families during the holidays,” the advisory says.
The Whitehorse toy drive launch will take place at Whitehorse Fire Station Two at 305 Range Road, also at 10 a.m. Yukon premier Sandy Silver, City of Whitehorse mayor Laura Cabott, Ta’an Kwäch’än chief Amanda Leas, and representatives of the Whitehorse Firefighters Charitable Society and Northwestel will be at the event.
Toys donated at Northwestel’s Whitehorse Retail Centre will be collected by the Whitehorse Firefighters Charitable Society for the Share the Spirit program, benefitting hundreds of Yukon families, a second media advisory explains.
