TORONTO — Competitive Network Operators of Canada (CNOC) today announced the participants for the regulatory panel session that will take place during the 2022 Canadian ISP Summit, being held Oct. 18-19 at the Marriott Downtown at CF Toronto Eaton Centre.
Scheduled for Oct. 18 from 3 p.m.-4 p.m. ET, the session “Zen and the Art of Regulatory Patience” will be moderated by Bryson Masse, regulatory and communications advisor at CNOC. Taking part in the discussion will be Madeleine Redfern, chief operating officer of CanArctic Inuit Networks Inc., Yuka Sai, staff lawyer at the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC), and Georgia Evans, policy and advocacy analyst at the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA).
“While the roller coaster isn’t going to careen into the ground, the policy and regulatory ride isn’t over yet for ISPs in Canada,” reads a CNOC email announcing details of the panel.
“With new legislation coming down the pipe, network operators need to be equipped with background and knowledge to understand the policy updates. As the policy direction puts affordability back in the spotlight, new rules and regulations will be a reaction to today’s cyber security environment as well as a renewed focus on the safety and reliability of Canada’s telecom networks.
“CNOC has brought together three industry experts with a wide range of backgrounds and expertise to reflect on the large (but very slow-moving) changes announced this year,” the email says.
