TORONTO — Bell Media and the Institute of Communication Agencies (ICA) announced today the newly selected jury members for the first-ever IDEA (Inclusivity, Diversity and Equity in Advertising) competition, which will award $1 million worth of media inventory on Bell Media platforms to one campaign.
As previously reported, the IDEA competition is open to national and international brands and their agencies, who are invited to submit new work that celebrates diversity and inclusion through advertising, with this year’s competition highlighting Indigenous communities.
The deadline for entry to the competition has been extended until Friday, May 7, says Bell Media’s press release. Creators of the winning entry will have access to Bell Media’s full range of platforms, including TV, radio, out-of-home and digital, to execute their $1-million campaign in 2021.
The newly appointed jury members include:
- Sonya Ballantyne, writer and filmmaker originally from Misipawistik Cree Nation in Northern Manitoba
- Ira Baptiste, managing director and executive vice-president of Brandfire Marketing Group
- Chris Bergeron, vice-president of content at Cossette
- Geneviève Bouchard, director of fiction acquisition at Bell Media
- Rachel CrowSpreadingWings, video journalist at CTV News Winnipeg and member of Kainai First Nation in southern Alberta, part of the Blackfoot Confederacy
- Tracey Deer, director, producer, writer, mentor, speaker and leader, who was born and raised in the Mohawk community of Kahnawake
- Manny Groneveldt, director of entertainment production and content editor, diversity and inclusion, at Bell Media
- Scott Knox, president and CEO of the Institute of Communication Agencies (ICA)
- Darian Kovacs, founding partner of Jelly Digital Marketing & PR
- Alison (Ali) Leung, head of marketing at Shopify Canada
- Brandon Moonsawmy, director of client strategy at Bell Media
- Elizabeth (Dori) Tunstall, dean of the faculty of design at OCAD University in Toronto
