VANCOUVER – Rae Hull, regional director of CBC Television for B.C., announced last week she is leaving the Corp.
An industry veteran with 25 years of experience, Hull has held a wide range of production and executive positions – from reporter, anchor, producer, writer and director to increasingly senior roles at CBC Television.
Hull has been in her current position for eight years and in 2000 took on the additional job of senior director, TV network programming – the first senior director for the network to be based outside of Toronto, said a company memo from Fred Mattocks, executive director of regional programming. "She greatly enhanced Vancouver’s role as a production centre as well as creating more space on the network schedule for regional voices from all parts of the country," said Mattocks.
‘Rae spearheaded the drive to make Vancouver the home of the national portion of CBC News: Canada Now, as well as breaking new ground with the innovative, interactive cross-platform series ZeD, which was nominated for an International Emmy Award. In 2001, Rae won the Woman of the Year Spotlight Award from Women in Film & Video in Vancouver, for the success she has achieved, and has shared as a mentor, within the film and television industry," continued Mattocks’ memo.
He also complimented Hull for her drive to boost cultural diversity at the CBC. "She has been tireless and passionate in developing practical initiatives to forge systemic change, enhance our understanding of a changing Canada, and create new opportunities for diverse talent, both on-air and behind the scenes," Mattocks said.
