VANCOUVER — In the shadow of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou returning to court in B.C., Huawei’s consumer business group issued a press release today touting the success of its AppGallery, reporting an 83% increase in app distribution and 33% growth in monthly active users during the last 12 months.

Among the app marketplace’s growth highlights:

“Our AppGallery strategy has been to expand our user base to lay a solid foundation for the development of our ecosystem, and the growth figures indicate that the approach is working. Not only are we delivering new, locally relevant apps all the time, and providing our developer partners with exposure to an ever-growing audience, but we are also creating an unbeatable opportunity for success in the mobile apps market,” said Derek Yu, vice-president of Huawei CEE and Nordic at Huawei Consumer Business Group, in the press release, which also said a number of Canadian apps can be found in the AppGallery.
