TORONTO – Quebecor’s Freedom Mobile announced Tuesday a global roaming plan called Roam Beyond, offering 60 GB of data for $65 per month after digital discount, that allows customers to stay connected in 73 destinations around the world.
In addition to Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, the Roam Beyond plan covers many popular locations in Europe, the Caribbean, Asia and the Middle East.
The plan includes the data allotment, unlimited global texting in the 73 destinations, unlimited local calling and unlimited incoming calls while in Canada and the other included destinations, unlimited calls to Canada from the included destinations, and unlimited calls to the U.S. and Mexico from Canada.
The Roam Beyond FAQ notes Freedom’s unlimited plans data policy applies to data usage in Canada, U.S. and Mexico. Once the monthly data allotment is depleted, customers will not have access to additional data in other destinations unless a one-time data pass is purchased.
The Roam Beyond plan requires customers to sign up for a minimum of three months, or they will be charged a $30 fee if they change to another plan within three months of activating or migrating to the Roam Beyond plan. For existing Freedom customers wanting a shorter-term option, the company is offering 30-day passes that start at $20 per month for 1 GB of global roaming data.
“Freedom continues with their innovative spirit reinventing international roaming with an offer never before seen in Canada, making it easier for our customers to stay connected when they travel,” Pierre Karl Peladeau, president and CEO of Quebecor, said in a press release.
“We’re shaking up the international roaming market, which our competitors have allowed to stagnate for too long. We continue to disrupt the status quo and go above and beyond our commitments to Canadians,” he said.
Freedom Mobile also announced it has recently extended 5G access to all of its plans priced $39 and up, meaning approximately 200,000 more customers now have access to 5G at no extra cost.
“With the gradual rollout of its 5G coverage, and with its Nationwide network now available to all its customers, Freedom now offers a top-notch mobile experience at ultra-competitive prices,” the press release says.
