TORONTO – Fight Network’s parent company Anthem Media Group announced Thursday it has acquired in U.S-based specialty television network My Combat Channel from former UFC fighter Fabiano Iha.
As part of the deal, Fight Network will acquire the North American rights to the My Combat Channel library, including the rights to all platforms. My Combat Channel is currently available in the Texas area on Grande Communications on Channel 240. It is also distributed globally via Vivicast Media, and streamed online via FilmOn.tv.
The deal also includes a 50-50 joint-venture component to expand My Combat Channel internationally in new territories going forward.
“With Fight Network already launching in five additional countries this year, My Combat Channel was the perfect acquisition target as we maintain our focus on expanding internationally,” said Leonard Asper, CEO of Anthem Media Group.
My Combat Channel’s founder, Brazilian-born retired Brazilian mixed martial artist Iha will join Anthem Media’s management.
Earlier this month, Fight Network announced its expansion into Belgium, where it will launch on Telenet in October.
