TORONTO — Organizers of the 2022 Canadian Telecom Summit (CTS) announced today Robert Ghiz, president and CEO of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA), will give a keynote speech at this year’s conference.

In his role with the CWTA, which he has been in since 2017, Ghiz “provides overall leadership and direction to an organization that is the authority on wireless issues, developments, and trends in Canada,” a description of the keynote on the CTS website says. He helps “the CWTA team represent and promote companies and service providers that collectively contributed more than $70 billion to Canada’s gross domestic product in 2020 alone.”

“Canada today is home to some of the best performing and farthest-reaching networks in the world, and Robert and the CWTA team work to ensure continued advancement of the sector to further enhance the personal lives and economic opportunities of Canadians,” the description continues. “This includes advocating for the growing value telecom services are providing Canadians in their infrastructure investments, and helping to show how 5G will drive benefits in areas ranging from economic innovation to helping Canada meet ambitious climate change targets.”

Ghiz, who was previously the premiere of Prince Edward Island, is scheduled to speak at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 21.

CTS is being held Nov. 21-23 at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ont., just west of Toronto.
