Jordan Banks left the company today

TORONTO – While Jordan Banks was still named as president in a Rogers Sports and Media press release sent out yesterday, as of today he is no longer listed as such on the company’s leadership team webpage – instead, the page lists Colette Watson (above) in the role.

The Globe and Mail reported earlier today unnamed sources said Banks was leaving the company and would be replaced by Watson, and that Banks’ departure was announced in an internal email today.

Dave Fuller, who was president of Rogers Wireless, Dan Golberg, senior vice-president of strategy and corporate development and Sevaun Palvetzian, chief communications officer have all reportedly left Rogers as well.

This has all unfolded in the days following the announcement Tony Staffieri was named the permanent president and CEO of Rogers after having been in the role in an interim position for several months.

Watson, according to her bio on Rogers’ website, is “responsible for the company’s $2 billion business and approximately 4,000 employees across Canada from a variety of sports and media properties.”

Watson has been in the industry for 30 years and has experience in programming, regulatory and communications. Her experience includes several senior roles across Rogers’ media, regulatory and cable divisions.

“Most recently she set the strategic direction for non-sports conventional, specialty, and community television assets and oversaw programming, production, and operations, while innovating the viewer experience with compelling content across multiple platforms,” her bio reads. “In addition to her role at Rogers, she was the President of CPAC.”

Watson is a past recipient of the Trailblazer of the Year award by Canadian Women in Communications.
