The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) announced last week a $3-million investment in nine Quebec-produced animation series for children and youth.
The CMF-SODEC Prototyping of Children and Youth Animation Series Program, a new partnership announced in June 2024, aims to accelerate the creation of Quebec-made, original intellectual properties for children and youth animation series and facilitates their financing with broadcasters, distributors, and other national and international partners, a CMF press release explains. The SODEC and the CMF are contributing $2 million and $1 million, respectively, to the program’s budget.
The selected projects will be produced in 2D animation, 3D animation and stop motion. They include:

- Le blues du bayou, by Rodeo FX Originals Inc. ($379,000)
- Les tout doux, by 10e Ave Productions Inc., with 10e Ave Animation, Unstandard Studio, and Touski Animation ($365,000)
- Ma maison-tête, by Productions Carpediem (VIII) Inc., with Studio Singing Frog ($420,000)
- Nebulous Stars, by Écho Média Inc. ($411,500)
- Pauline, by Productions Avenida Inc., with Loomi Animation ($250,000)
- Super ami, by Image-In Productions Inc., with Rayon FX ($204,000)
- Tribu 3000, by Happy Camper Média Inc. ($438,000)
