CBC NEWS NETWORK announced in an internal email today a number of host changes beginning Oct. 24.
Dwight Drummond (above), currently host of CBC Toronto News at 6 p.m. on the main CBC network, is joining CBC News Network to host Canada Tonight for one year.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dwight to the NN hosting family,” reads an email announcement sent to Cartt.ca. “He has a deep connection with audiences and communities, and will carry on the excellent work of Ginella Massa while she is on maternity leave.”
While Drummond hosts Canada Tonight, Marivel Taruc will be interim host of CBC Toronto News, a CBC spokesperson told Cartt.ca. Taruc is the CBC Toronto News weekend anchor and the host of Our Toronto.
Following the retirement of Suhana Meharchand, Aarti Pole (right) is taking over as host of CBC Newsroom for the 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET time slot.
“Aarti has proven herself as a trusted and consistent voice during our important dayside hours,” the email detailing the hosting changes at CBC says.
Hannah Thibedeau is officially joining the CBC News Network roster as host of the afternoon CBC Newsroom program, which airs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET.
“Hannah is well known to viewers already, and brings tremendous range to her coverage of live and breaking events,” the email says, adding Thibedeau will host from Ottawa.
CBC News Network is also changing its weekend programming, with Natasha Fatah becoming the midday host.
“This is a priority programming slot, given the many breaking news events that often land on weekends, and we know that Natasha and the hard-working weekend staff will continue to deliver for audiences,” the email says.
