LONDON, U.K. — In its latest benchmarking of the 5G experience in cities around the world, U.K.-based mobile analytics company Opensignal has given Calgary a 10th-place ranking for average 5G download speed as measured during the period from January 1 to March 31, 2021.

Users in Calgary had an average 5G download speed of 184.1 Mbps during the measurement period, according to Opensignal’s latest analysis in a report released Wednesday evening. Of all the cities analyzed for the report, the city of Jeonju, South Korea, achieved the highest global ranking with an average 5G download speed of 415.6 Mbps. Calgary was the only North American city to make it onto the top 10 list.

Looking at national scores, Canada didn’t rank in the top 10 list of countries for fastest 5G speeds in Opensignal’s latest benchmarking report. However, compared to other countries analyzed by Opensignal, Canada ranked fifth for 5G games experience and eighth for 5G voice app experience, which are lower rankings than it achieved in a previous Opensignal report covering the period from October 1 to December 29, 2020.
