TORONTO – Bell Media this week followed up the cuts to its senior executives by beginning to trim the ranks at the director and GM level. Cartt.ca has learned at least 17 directors and general managers were let go this week.
We don’t know all of the people affected, but we have learned Lis Travers, general manager of CTV News Channel, Martin Spalding, managing editor of CTV Montreal, Rob Farina, head of content with Bell Media Radio and Edwina Follows, GM of Discovery Channel Canada, are all no longer with the company.
This follows news of the company’s new chief Wade Oosterman cutting nearly all of its most senior content people during the first week of the new year, as we reported here.
Bell spokesperson Marc Choma declined to confirm details of the latest round of layoffs and responded in an email saying “any changes in roles would reflect our strategy to make Bell Media easier to work with while driving content and platform innovation.”
