MONTREAL — Canadian video services provider Aldea Solutions, a subsidiary of the Marcatel Group, announced yesterday it has acquired a majority holding in TVTel, a media production and delivery services company based in Santiago, Chile.
With the acquisition, Aldea strengthens its presence in Latin America including Chile, where it has operated since 2020 providing transmission services for the country’s national soccer league through its subsidiary Aldea Chile SpA, says the company’s press release.
Operating in Latin America, TVTel offers production services, transmission services using IP, 4G/5G and satellite technologies, as well as centralized/remote production from its operations facility in Santiago. The company has been involved in several large international projects for major sports events, says the release.
Aldea has worked in the past with TVTel and combined they “have all the necessary capabilities to become even stronger and provide end-to-end services from content generation to distribution through multiple platforms, including OTT,” says the release.
“TVTel assets and expertise in production services are fully complementary to Aldea’s capabilities and strategic direction, and in-line with our customers’ demands for fully integrated solutions and services,” said Lionel Bentolila, executive group director, new business and mergers and acquisitions, at the Marcatel Group, and the original founder of Aldea Solutions.
