REGINA – Access Communications Co-operative announced yesterday its CEO Jim Deane (above) will retire in January 2023.
“Jim Deane has been with our Co-operative since 1981, and in his over 40 years in a leadership role, he has been instrumental in growing our Co-operative into the leading-edge telecommunications company it is today,” said James Lainton, chair of the Access Communications board, in a press release.
“As CEO since 2000, Jim has provided a strong vision as our 100% community-owned organization expanded to over 235 Saskatchewan communities, including an additional 200,000 sq. km. of rural areas. It was Jim’s commitment to the founding principles of our co-operative, and co-operatives in general, that made the biggest difference.”
The board has established a search committee to lead the efforts to find a new CEO.
“The Board is very confident that not only will this be a smooth transition but that Access Communications will continue to thrive in the years to come while staying true to its commitment to the growth and vitality of Saskatchewan communities,” the press release explains.
“It has been my honour to lead this fantastic co-operative over the years, and I am grateful for the support I’ve received from our many co-operative members, board, staff, volunteers, and the communities Access is privileged to serve,” Deane said.
