MONTREAL – Videotron announced Monday it is permanently freezing the monthly rates on Freedom mobile plans and adding a 10 per cent data bonus to those with recurring plans.
As part of its purchase of Freedom, Videotron agreed to certain legally binding commitments, which include providing retail services that are at least 20 per cent cheaper than the major players outside of its home territory, expand the 5G network in its existing territory withing two years, and increase data allotments to existing Freedom customers by 10 per cent in the near term.
Customers who sign up before or on Monday will receive a notification for that 10 per cent data bonus, Videotron said Monday, adding the bonus will be rolled out this month. The price freeze affects both prepaid and postpaid plans.
Meanwhile, the company added in a dedicated “customer promise” webpage that its network expansion and 5G network are “coming soon.”
“We can’t wait to share what else is in store as we continue to deliver on our commitment to driving affordable services in Canada,” the webpage said.
