TORONTO — Bell Media’s CTV announced today acclaimed Canadian comedian and actress Lilly Singh (above) will host and executive produce Battle of the Generations, the network’s new primetime quiz show that was previously announced during Bell Media’s June 2022 upfront presentation.

Each episode of the show features four contestants representing a different generation — Baby Boomer, Gen X, Millennial and Gen Z — battling through multiple rounds of nostalgia-packed pop culture trivia, explains a press release.

“Whoever triumphs in this unique game of time travelling trivia enters The Vault for a chance to win a cash prize of up to $25,000,” the release reads.

Nationwide casting for Battle of the Generations is now underway, with details available at CTV.ca/BOTGcasting.

Production on the 20-episode, one-hour quiz show is set to begin in Toronto in February 2023, the release says.

“I love a quiz show, so I’m very excited to host and executive produce Battle of the Generations with my company Unicorn Island,” Singh said in the release. “I look forward to representing my fellow millennials across Canada and seeing all the generations bring it!”

“As millions of her fans worldwide know, Lilly Singh has found the heart and humour in generational differences throughout her career,” said Jennifer Couke, executive producer at Bell Media Studios. “Battle of the Generations will showcase Lilly’s combination of creativity, pop culture fandom, and quick-witted hosting skills — including some playful generational jabs. We can’t wait for Canadian families to play along at home, undoubtedly rooting for the contestant representing their own generation.”

Today’s announcement follows the signing of a multi-year content deal between Bell Media, production company Blink49 Studios, and Singh and her company Unicorn Island Productions. Singh and Unicorn Island also have a first-look unscripted deal with Universal Television Alternative Studio, according to the release.
