TORONTO — The Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) announced today the appointment of Lisa Broadfoot as vice-president of industry and business affairs.
In this position, Broadfoot joins CMPA’s senior leadership team and will play “a strategic role leading business affairs support for CMPA members across a range of areas including project development, financing, production planning, sales, and business growth,” reads a press release announcing her hiring.
“Lisa has deep knowledge of Canada’s independent production sector, and knows firsthand the hard work our members put in to get projects developed, financed, produced, and sold,” said Reynolds Mastin, CMPA president and CEO, in the release. “We are thrilled to have Lisa join our team, and know that she will be an incredible asset for the CMPA and our members.”
Broadfoot has more than 20 years of experience in Canada’s television and film sector, “having held a variety of roles that touched on television, documentary, feature film, live-action scripted drama, factual, and animated production,” the release says.
Prior to joining the CMPA, Broadfoot was senior vice-president of business affairs and production financing at Boat Rocker Media, according to her LinkedIn profile. In that role, she oversaw production financing for Boat Rocker’s “slate of kids and family, scripted, and animated productions, working to maximize financing opportunities while negotiating production service agreements with clients such as Nickelodeon, Spin Master, Mattel, and Netflix,” says CMPA’s press release.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the CMPA as Vice-President, Industry and Business Affairs. Over the years as a member producer, I have sat on various CMPA committees and working groups and have benefited from the association’s advice and counsel,” Broadfoot said in the release.
“I look forward to working with the CMPA team on strategies to continue to advocate for the interests of Canadian independent producers, building on my strong relationships within the production community and other industry stakeholders.”
As a CMPA member, Broadfoot sat on the organization’s Regulatory Committee and its Kids and Animation Committee, the release explains.
She is also a member of the Computer Animation Studios of Ontario (CASO). She holds both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts degree in English Literature from McGill University.
