TORONTO — Canadian production company marblemedia announced today the start of production on its latest competition series, Best in Miniature, a new original series for CBC (set to premiere later this year) and Discovery+ in the UK and Ireland (airing in 2022).

Best in Miniature (10 episodes x 60 minutes) taps into the viral sensation that is #miniatures, a world that has captured more than 170 million views on TikTok alone, according to marblemedia’s press release.

The series is hosted by writer and stand-up comedian Aba Amuquandoh (above, CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes) and features 11 artists from around the world who compete as they build their dream home in miniature form. The competitors will create their houses in painstaking detail, room by room, by shrinking life-size objects to 1:12 scale.

Week after week, the miniaturists’ creations are judged by UK miniature expert Emma Waddell and designer Micheal Lambie until only three challengers remain for the last competition in the grand finale. The winner will receive a cash prize and the coveted title of Best in Miniature.

Distribution 360, a marblemedia company, holds worldwide rights to the format and finished program.
