WATERLOO and SAN FRANCISCO – Leading MVNO provider (in the U.S.)TextNow announced today it has hired Evan Fein (above) as its new chief financial officer.
The company, whose app offers free cellular and Wi-Fi-enabled phone service, is bringing Fein on to “oversee financial activities while helping position the company for growth and offering strategic guidance as the business scales,” reads the company press release.
Prior to TextNow, Fein was CFO at Chef Software, “which he led through its successful acquisition by Progress Software in October 2020,” reads the release. He also served as CFO of Impinj from 2000 to 2018 – where he helped to secure more than $100 million in private funding before leading the company through an IPO.
That doesn’t mean TextNow is going to follow either of those pathways, said a company spokesperson. “Evan’s 25 years of financial management experience and history with high growth, scale stage companies will bring tremendous values to TextNow. It’s our intention to continue to grow as an independent company – no immediate plans for an IPO or exit,” said the spokesperson in an email.
“The telecommunications industry is ripe for disruption and I think there is a terrific opportunity for TextNow to change how mobile service is delivered,” said Fein in the release. “The company has already built a market-leading product offering, and I’m excited to help grow the business while continuing to deliver on our mission to bring communication to everyone.”
“With the rapid growth we’ve experienced, Evan will strengthen our senior leadership team and help us continue to scale the company,” said Derek Ting, CEO. “His experience leading growth stage companies and strategic expertise will be invaluable as we continue to scale our platform and grow our business.”
