TORONTO – Corus Entertainment’s biggest TV brands will be part of Amazon’s Prime Video Channels lineup when the streaming service launches in Canada this year.

The broadcaster said Monday that its television package, called StackTV, will allow viewers to stream live and on-demand content from Global, Food Network Canada, HGTV Canada, W Network, History, Adult Swim, Slice, Showcase, National Geographic, Teletoon, Treehouse and YTV.

Corus is also packaging up popular kids series like Henry Danger; Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn; and Shimmer and Shine with new series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in a new Nickelodeon subscription video on-demand (SVoD) channel that will also be part of Prime Video Channels for Canada.

“Canadians rely on Corus for powerhouse brands and hit series, and STACKTV is another way we’re working with new distributors to deliver our diverse portfolio of premium broadcast content to new audiences,” said Corus president and CEO Doug Murphy, in the announcement.  “We know that choice and accessibility are important for our viewers, and working with Amazon through Prime Video Channels allows Corus to extend its reach to new viewers, giving them the live and on-demand content from the channels they love.”

The StackTV package of channels will be available to Amazon Prime members in Canada for an additional $12.99 per month, and the Nickelodeon SVoD channel will be available for $5.99 per month, plus applicable taxes.

Hollywood Suite confirmed that its four movie channels will also be part of Prime Video Channels for Canada, with Amazon Prime members able to subscribe for $4.99 per month plus tax, which includes a one-month free trial.

“Prime Video Channels is an exciting new way to watch Hollywood Suite,” said Hollywood Suite president David Kines, in its announcement.  “We’re thrilled to be able to offer Hollywood Suite’s carefully curated movie-watching experience, like ‘Summer of Sequels’, to Amazon Prime members across Canada soon.”

While the Canadian launch date has not been confirmed, Prime Video Channels said that it will also debut with Super Channel's four linear services, Blue Ant Media's Smithsonian Channel and Love Nature, LGBTQ+ television network Outtv, and existing streaming platforms such as reality show haven hayu and horror-themed Shudder.

Starz will also be in the lineup at launch courtesy of a distribution deal with Bell Media, though a company spokesperson told Cartt.ca that it remains the exclusive content partner for Starz in Canada.

Available via the existing Prime Video app to watch on smart TVs, iOS and Android mobile devices, Amazon Fire TV, and Amazon Fire TV Stick, Prime Video Channels will be available as paid monthly subscriptions with no long term contracts and easy cancellation.

Amazon Channels is currently available in the U.S., as well as the U.K., Japan, Germany and Austria.
