TORONTO – Rogers customers in Ontario may now watch live and recorded TV programs from any room in their homes thanks to the company’s newest offer dubbed NextBox 2.0.
Unveiled Friday morning, the system uses the Cisco Videoscape TV architecture to provide whole home PVR services, and allow tablet users to stream over 20 channels of live TV to their tablets using their Wi-Fi connection. It also includes a sleeker, more intuitive interactive program guide and a new on-demand portal.
"Canadians are increasingly looking for seamless, easy-to-use and flexible ways to fit all their favourite entertainment into their busy schedules – including the latest TV programming, movies, music and more," said John Boynton, EVP and chief marketing officer, in the announcement. "NextBox 2.0 makes next generation television technology a reality by delivering a whole home entertainment experience that gives our customers complete control over where, when and how they view their favourite shows and live programming."
Rogers also revealed its new bundled cable and Internet packages, which include usage-based packaging options, plus announced that it has renamed its Rogers On Demand Online portal as Rogers Anyplace TV. That service allows customers to catch up on their favourite television programs or rent movies on their PC, smart phone, tablet and Xbox LIVE anywhere in Canada with an Internet connection.
