TORONTO – CTV will celebrate the launch of its new Comedy Gold channel with an all-day marathon featuring comedy’s classic funny females.
The TV Land Canada re-brand goes on the air August 2 at 2 p.m. ET/PT with episodes from Mary Tyler Moore Show, Murphy Brown and Designing Women. Its regular programming of vintage comedies from the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s kicks-off on August 3.
“Comedy Gold is the destination for classic comedy programming in Canada,” said Michelle Daly, the new channel’s director of content, in a press release. “With the enduring appeal of sitcoms and their classic stars, viewers have an appetite for this kind of programming. We’re happy to offer the funniest line-up out there.”
